The angler with the biggest total will win a Gold Card to run from 1st October 2008 for one year. George will also be running a biggest fish compo with another free Gold Card for the angler who banks the biggest fish during the 4 matches. All Carp over 5lb caught during Century Ponds matches will be weighed by the match officials and returned to the water. • 2008 ALL-NIGHT CARP MATCH SERIES
A four-match series sponsored by Keynsham Angling Centre will take place at Century OLD Pond - draw at 1pm, fishing 2pm (Sat) until 8am (Sun). The match dates are: Sat April 12th, Sat May 10th, Sat June 7th, Sat Sept 13th. Entry fee is £15 (£5 pegging fee, £10 towards prize fund) with 8 pegs available. RESULTS & TABLE
• 2008 ARTHUR EDWARDS MEMORIAL CUP
A match is planned for late September on the River Chew at the Mill Ground in order to compete for the Arthur Edwards Memorial Cup. Around a dozen anglers have expressed an interest in competeing. Anyone else interested? Phone Jason on 07971 851071. Further details to follow.

Phil Seymour will be running a series of junior Carp matches at Century Ponds on various weekends during 2008. Dates confirmed so far are Sat 22nd March, Sat 26th April, Sat 28th June.
• 2008 CHRISTMAS MATCH
The 2008 Christmas Match will take place on Sunday November 30th 2008 at Century Ponds. Pegs to be confirmed. Draw 10am, fishing 11am - 4pm. Entry fee £10. All species count. • Junior Carp Match - 28th June 2008
Century Old Pond - 9:30am to 3:30pm Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Josh Silk - 29lb 3oz (peg 2) 2nd - Craig Andrews - 12lb 7oz (peg 6) Biggest fish - Josh Silk - 16lb 12oz Josh Silk won the latest junior carp match, landing 2 mirror carp (12lb 7oz and 16lb 12oz). Both fish were hooked under the tree to his left on boilie. The 16lb 12oz fish was a personal best. This beat his previous best by 1lb 4oz. Craig Andrews caught his 12lb 7oz mirror fishing close in to the reeds using dumbbell boilie. Josh’s 1st fish and Craig’s fish was the same one. Josh also claimed the BBS pellets for the biggest fish. Josh continued to fish peg 2 after the match and caught an 18lb 0oz common carp beating his personal best again by another 1lb 4oz. Max Lamprey (peg 5) and Jack Newton (peg 10) failed to catch. Thanks to Phil for arranging the match.

Phil Seymour was a close runner-up with 18lb 13oz. A total weight of 82lb 8oz was banked. Thanks to Phil for organising the contest at short notice.

Century Old Pond - 9:30am to 3:30pm Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Sean Clark - 16lb 6oz (peg 12) Biggest fish - Sean Clark - 16lb 6oz Eight anglers entered the third Bristol Bait Supplies sponsored junior Carp match at Century Old pond. First place went to Sean Clark with a 16lb 6oz common caught using fake corn fishing near to the lilypads in the shallower water between pegs 12 and 13. Craig Andrews, Ben Pitman, John Nash, Craig Rafferty, Connor Rafferty, Wayne Rafferty and Jordan Andrews all failed to catch. Sean won all the prize money and the pellets for the biggest fish. Century Old Pond - 9:30am to 3:30pm Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Sean Clark - 15lb 4oz (peg 2) 2nd - Ben Pitman - 10lb 12oz (peg 3) Biggest fish - Sean Clark - 15lb 4oz A total of six anglers entered the second junior Carp match at Century Old pond. The fishing was made difficult by strong Northerly winds and snow storms. First place went to Sean Clark fishing on peg 2 with a 15lb 4oz mirror caught on boilie fished out in front. Ben Pitman came in second with a 10lb 12oz mirror fished down the edge of peg 3 using corn. John Nash (peg 6), Jonny Rood (peg 9) and Alex Seymour (peg 10) all failed to catch. Joe Hemmings was beaten by the elements and did not weigh in. Once again Sean Clark takes the bag of pellets for the biggest fish. Thanks to Phil Seymour for organising the match.

Century Ponds - 10am to 4pm 1st - Mike Taylor - 9lb 6oz 2nd - Bob Teakle - 2lb 2oz 3rd - Warren Bates - 1lb 7oz A total of nine anglers entered the 2007 Christmas match. Mike Taylor won the George Bingham shield with a total of 9lb 6oz in difficult conditions. Runner up was Bob Teakle with 2lb 2oz. Warren Bates came in third with 1lb 7oz. Four of the nine entrants caught.

Century Old Pond - 9:30am to 3:30pm Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Ben Pitman - 31lb 6oz (peg 7) 2nd - Sean Clark - 20lb 4oz (peg 2) Biggest fish - Sean Clark - 20lb 4oz
A total of five anglers entered this inaugural junior match at Century Old pond. The winner was Ben Pitman with 3 doubles for a total of 31lb 6oz from peg 7. He took all three fish on corn from the margins, the first two on the left side and the third from the right. Runner-up was Sean Clark with a single fish of 20lb 4oz - the biggest of the match and Sean's personal best, caught from peg 2 on the edge of the lily pads using an M&M frozen boilie. Alex Seymour, John Nash and Alex Willis couldn't locate the fish this time - better luck next match lads. Thanks to Phil Seymour for organising the match. • Christmas Match - 3rd Dec 2006 - George Bingham Shield
Century Ponds - 11am to 3pm 1st - Steve Bull - 23lb 2oz (peg 5) 2nd - Warren Bates - 8lb 7oz (peg 20) 3rd - Stuart ??? - 3lb 3oz (peg 7) Another near sell-out saw 18 anglers competing for the George Bingham Shield. In difficult conditions, Steve Bull took 5 Carp for a total weight of 23lb 2oz from peg 5. Warren Bates banked an 8lb 7oz bag of silver fish from peg 20 to take the runner-up spot for the third year running. Third place was Stuart with 3lb 3oz from peg 7. Nine anglers caught. At a committee meeting the following night it was widely accepted that this was the best Christmas match turn-out since the heady days of the 1980's when 50-odd anglers would huddle around a flooded River Chew in dreadful conditions looking for an odd bootlace or Minnow to win the Shield! • 18 Hour Carp Match - 30th Sep - 1st Oct 2006
Century Ponds - 2pm to 8am 1st - George Hurrell-Smith - 26lb 5oz (peg 15) 2nd - Ian Tucker - 24lb 10oz (peg 22) 3rd - Craig Clark - 21lb 14oz (peg 8) Biggest fish - Del - 15lb Common (peg 14) The latest all-night Carp match saw a total of 19 anglers competing on both ponds. A night of torrential rain and thunderstorms caused bankside flooding, making conditions difficult. The fish were scarcer than of late, with 18 Carp showing. The winner was George Hurrell-Smith who landed Carp totalling 26lb 5oz from peg 15. Runner-up was Ian Tucker with 24lb 10oz from peg 22, with Craig Clark taking 3rd place with 21lb 14oz from peg 8. Whilst the rain gave most of the anglers a good soaking during the night, it was Paul Mogg who got the wettest after he decided to go for a fully-clothed midnight swim! George Clark reported seeing Paul's leger rod pulled in by a fish, then hearing a large splash, followed by the sight of a pair of wellies emerging from the dark depths. A bruised and cut Mr Mogg was eventually returned to terra firma, whilst his missing rod was recoverd 3 pegs down - with a small Eel on the hook!! As a consolation, Paul was awarded his 25 metre swimming badge for his efforts!
• Inter-Club Match - 13th August 2006

Century Ponds - 2pm to 7pm 1st - Paul Mogg (KAA) - 24lb 12oz (peg 24) 2nd - Eddie Perkins (GVAC) - 17lb 8oz (peg 4) 3rd - Steve Nethercott (KAA) - 14lb 6oz (peg 23) 4th - Roger Webb (GVAC) - 9lb 9oz (peg 20) 5th - Simon Belcham (GVAC) - 8lb 12oz (peg 22) Biggest fish - Paul Mogg (KAA) - 12lb 15oz KAA total weight - 52lb 11oz GVAC total weight - 60lb 6oz A total of 17 anglers fished this inter-club match with Golden Valley Angling Club (9 KAA, 8 GVAC). With a strong North Westerly whipping up the ripples, the Carp made a selected appearance - Paul Mogg banked two Mirrors and a handful of silvers for a total of 24lb 12oz on peg 24 to win the match. GVAC's Eddie Perkins landed two smaller Carp from peg 4 along with the odd pound of silver fish for a second-placed 17lb 8oz. Steve Nethercott (KAA) caught the first fish of the day in the shape of an 8lb 5oz Mirror, to which he added a couple of portly Skimmers and a handful of Roach for a third-placed 14lb 6oz from peg 23. Overall, there was a fairly good showing of Roach and Gudgeon, a few good Skimmers and, unusually, quite a few Eels! Golden Valley AC take a 7lb 11oz lead into the second leg match on the Avon at Swineford on Saturday 16th Sept - full details above.
• 18 Hour Carp Match - 22nd-23rd Jul 2006
Century Ponds - 2pm to 8am Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Jamie Seymour - 59lb 1oz (peg 24) 2nd - Alex Seymour - 52lb 3oz (peg 13) 3rd - Paul Mogg - 45lb 9oz (peg 5) Biggest fish - Jamie Seymour - 14lb 14oz A total of 15 anglers entered the latest Bristol Bait Supplies sponsored all-night Carp match - the first contest to use both ponds. The winner was Jamie Seymour on peg 24 with 59lb 1oz, which included the biggest fish of the match at 14lb 14oz. Runner-up was Jamie's brother Alex Seymour on peg 13 with 52lb 3oz. In third place was Paul Mogg who fished peg 5 on the pole to land 45lb 9oz. A grand total of 41 Carp were banked, averaging 6-8lb each. Only one angler blanked. • Spring Silver Fish Series 2006
Century Island Pond - Silver Fish Only The first Silver Fish Series in a long while saw a very close finish, coming down to the final match to decide the overall winner. Warren Bates took the series title, winning 2 rounds and finishing runner-up in another 2 matches. Phil Seymour came a close second, just 3 points adrift of the winner, while Dave Atcherley grabbed the 'bronze medal' position with 16 points. The Wednesday matches saw few Skimmers showing and a variety of weather conditions that included a heat wave, two thunderstorms and heavy rain. Well done to all anglers who entered and thanks to Warren Bates for organising the series. Century Old Pond - 2pm to 8am Sponsored by Bristol Bait Supplies. 1st - Craig Andrews - 47lb 5oz (peg 6) 2nd - Alex Seymour - 33lb 0oz (peg 3) 3rd - Sonny Hacker - 28lb 12oz (peg 12) 4th - Craig Clark - 27lb 15oz (peg 10) Biggest fish - Craig Clark - 17lb 1oz Second Biggest fish - George Clark - 15lb 5oz Nine anglers entered this Bristol Bait Supplies sponsored all-nighter which saw a total of 24 Carp banked, approximately 220lb of fish! Everyone caught fish despite the biting North Easterly wind during the day followed by a cold, still night. The juniors showed the adults how to catch Carp by taking the top 4 places and the biggeest fish. Craig Andrews took the top spot with a 47lb 5 oz haul. Alex Seymour led the runners-up with 33lb, third was Sonny Hacker with 28lb 12oz from peg 12, with Craig Clark in fourth with 27lb 15oz. Congratulations also go to junior member Sean Clark who beat his personal best by 4oz with an 11lb 8oz specimen. Thanks as ever to George Clark for running the match. • 18 Hour Carp Match - 18th-19th Mar 2006
Century Old Pond - 2pm to 8am 1st - George Clark - 35lb 8oz 2nd - Ian Tucker - 23lb 8oz Seven brave anglers entered what was the coldest all-night match to date, with a wind chill factor that would give a polar bear a runny nose. The severe conditions forced half of the pack to retire early for the sanctuary of a warm bed. George Clark took the honours with a 35lb 8oz haul, with Ian Tucker runner up with 22lb 8oz. George Clark also won the award for the most bottles of camping gas ever used in a single night (four bottles) in his luxury centrally-heated bivvy!

The annual Christmas match at Century Ponds saw 10 anglers compete for the George Bingham Shield in cold, calm conditions which affected the sport considerably. Ian Tucker took the honours with a last-minute solitary Carp weighing in at 11lb 12oz from peg 6. Runner-up was Warren Bates with a bag of Roach for 3lb 6oz from peg 9. In third spot was Keith Pope with a 2lb 2oz catch of Roach from peg 13. Six anglers caught. Prizes were kindly donated by Scott's Tackle, Veals Of Bristol and Antbait. Thanks to George Clark for running the match and to all anglers for entering. Your support is appreciated.
• 18 Hour Carp Match - 12th-13th Nov 2005
Century Old Pond - 2pm to 8am 1st - Shaun Porter - 72lb 5oz (Peg 8) 2nd - George Clark - 47lb 13oz (Peg 3) 3rd - Andrew Reis - 10lb 10oz (Peg 12) Biggest Fish - George Clark - 16lb 1oz (Mirror) The fourth all-night Carp match was fished on the night of the first heavy frost of the year, with temperatures falling below zero as 9 intrepid anglers battled each other and the cold. Shaun Porter took the top spot for the second match running with a monster haul of 72lb 5oz from Peg 8, comprised of 8 fish. George Clark once again came second with 47lb 13oz from Peg 3 in addition to landing the biggest fish of the night, a 16lb 1oz Mirror Carp. Third place was Andrew Reis with a solitary 10lb 10oz fish. Five anglers blanked (hardly suprising considering the temperature drop). Thanks to George Clark for running the match - he managed to lose 1 fish and missed another 3 whilst weighing other competitor's fish.
• 18 Hour Carp Match - 1st-2nd Oct 2005
Century Old Pond - 2pm to 8am Prizes donated by Scott's Tackle and Veals Of Bristol 1st - Shaun Porter - 53lb 2oz (Peg 1) 2nd - George Clark - 45lb 10oz (Peg 3) 3rd - Sonny Hacker - 44lb 14oz (Peg 12) Biggest Fish - George Clark - 18lb 7oz The third all-night Carp match saw much better returns with 29 Carp landed for a total weight of just under 300lb. Shaun Porter banked 53lb 2oz from peg 1 to take top spot, with George Clark (45lb 10oz) winning the closely-fought battle for second place ahead of Sonny Hacker (44lb 14oz). Anglers fished from 2pm to 8am. All in all, a successful contest with much fun and food had by everyone! Expect more of the same in early 2006. • 14 Hour Carp Match - 3rd-4th Sept 2005
Century Old Pond 1st - Martin Coombes - 28lb 5oz 2nd - Paul Mogg - 15lb 11oz 3rd - Ian Tucker - 8lb 2oz The second all-night Carp match saw Martin Coombes take the honours with 28lb 5oz. A lack of breeze and ripple meant the Carp were reluctant to feed, hence the low weights compared to the first match. Anglers fished from 4pm to 6am.

Century Old Pond 1st - Craig Clark - 62lb 14oz 2nd - Mark Lock - 45lb 11oz 3rd - Paul Mogg - 44lb 2oz Biggest fish - 21lb 13oz Craig Clark took the honours in this trial night match with a fine Carp haul of 62lb 14oz. Anglers fished from 4pm to 6am on a 'lock-in' basis.

The fish failed to show in numbers for most anglers at Century Island Pond. Martyn Smith took the honours with a fine 11lb 2oz bag of skimmers from peg 16, caught on a pole-fished bait near the island. Adam Smith was runner up with a fine Perch of 1lb 6oz from peg 25, with Jason Allen third with a solitary quarter ounce Perch from peg 20. Ten fished in total.
• Christmas Match - 5th Dec 2004 - George Bingham Shield
Century Island Pond 1st - Keith Pope - 6dr 2nd - Warren Bates - 5dr 3rd - Jason Allen - 4dr Century Island Pond proved to be very difficult for this years Christmas match. A total of 8 anglers entered the contest, with 3 solitary Perch making up the total catch. Keith Pope took the honours from peg 24 on account of his fish being longer than the other two!

A handful of anglers braved the strong winds and squally showers on an Island pond that was better suited to wind surfing. The winner was Tom Coulson with a single pole-caught Mirror Carp of 5lb 9oz from peg 20. Just grabbing the runner-up prize was Adam Denham with a 2lb 3oz catch of Roach and Gudgeon taken on the pole from peg 17, beating fellow committee member George Clark by a solitary ounce. George took 2 skimmers from peg 26 on the feeder for 2lb 2oz.

Century Island Pond 1st - George Clark - 4lb 8oz 2nd - Craig Clark - 2lb 15oz 3rd - Paul Jolliffe / Adam Denham - 1lb 4oz The recent drop in water temperatures meant the fishing was hard going at Century Ponds in the latest KAA match. The winner was George Clark who took a 3lb 2oz Carp and silver fish for a toal weight of 4lb 8oz. George's son Craig came in second with a single 2lb 15oz Carp, whilst third place was tied between Paul Jolliffe and Adam Denham, both with 1lb 4oz. The club is considering hosting a match on the Old pond in the new year.

River Chew, Mill Ground 1st - Paul Jolliffe - 2lb 11oz 2nd - Adam Denham - 1lb 10.5oz 3rd - Jason Allen - 1lb 10oz
Paul Jolliffe relinquished his post as temporary match secretary to take the honours in the Club's first River Chew match in years. A slow-flowing Mill Gound stretch saw most competitors catch, with Trout and Grayling counting in this informal contest. Paul's winning weight consisted of 2 Trout and a mix of Roach, Gudgeon and Minnows, taken on stick-fished maggot. Adam Denham pipped second spot with a 1lb 10.5oz Roach/Dace/Gudgeon haul, while Jason Allen came in third with a similar 1lb 10oz mixed bag. Paul is the inaugral winner of the King Midas Cup (see picture) - a true King Of The Chew! Thanks to all who attended. See you next match.

Last matches big fish prize winner Adam Denham took the honours with an impressive bag of Skimmers and a Carp from peg 14, for a combined weight of 17lb. Second was Chris Black on peg 26 with 7lb 13oz mixed net including a 4lb 6oz Carp which landed him the biggest fish prize, kindly supplied by Bristol Bait Supplies. Third was Jason Allen with a 2lb 13oz bag of Tench, Crucians, Perch and a Skimmer from peg 16. Thanks to Paul Jolliffe for refereeing the match.

Junior member Craig Clark took the honours in the first of the Club's relaunched matches with three Carp to 5lb 8oz, three 12oz Skimmers and various bits for a 17lb 10oz bag. Mike Taylor came second with an 8lb 10oz catch of Skimmers, Roach, Eels and a Carp while New committee member Adam Denham came in third with 7lb 4oz which included a last-gasp 5lb 14oz Mirror to take the biggest fish prize. Five anglers braved the cold weather, with each one catching. Warren took the honours with a 5lb Carp and a bag of Gudgeon and Perch. Bob Teakle came in second place with 4lb 15oz, including another small Carp. John Heys also took a small Carp to clinch third spot. Warren Bates took the biggest fish prize, kindly donated by the match sponsors Bristol Bait Supplies. Images taken on the day can be found on the GALLERIES page.

Century Ponds 1st - Warren Bates - 28lb 6oz 2nd - Mike Walker - 25lb 15oz 3rd - Darren Gillman - 15lb 4oz Warren continued his fine run of wins with a good bag of Carp and Skimmers. Mike Walker pushed Warren all the way with a respectable 25lb 15oz second place catch. Darren Gillman came in 3rd with 15lb 4oz. In all, 7 anglers fished with combined weights nearing the 100lb mark.

Century Ponds 1st - Warren Bates - 2lb 10oz 2nd - Bob Theakle - 2lb 5oz 3rd - John Heys - 14oz Warren once again took top spot with a bag of small Perch and Roach from the old pond. The cold spell put paid to the large catches that were evident at Century in the week or so after Christmas, but all anglers caught on the day. Next match is on January 19th at the usual time (see above for more details).
• Xmas Match 2002 - 22nd Dec 2002 - George Bingham Shield
Century Ponds 1st - Warren Bates - 7lb 1.5oz 2nd - Mike Taylor - 4lb 9.5oz 3rd - Rich Green - 1lb 15oz 4th - Ken Jerrom - 1lb 12oz A small turn out of 6 anglers fished for the George Bingham Shield with 4 anglers catching fish, all from the gin-clear Old pond. Warren's winning catch consisited of mainly Roach and Perch taken on pole-fished caster. He wins the Shield for the third time. Mike Taylor came second with a fine bag of mainly Perch making up his catch. Rich Green and Ken Jerrom came 3rd and 4th with mixed bags of Roach and Perch. No carp were caught on the day.
All contests fished under N.F.A. Match Rules. The P.P.P. Cup will be contested by adult members only and the J.B.S. by junior members only.
