Left bank (Looking Downstream): Field Nos. 17, 18, 19, 21.
COMMENCING AT THE first field below Chewton Place and extending north to the Albert Mill at Dapps Hill, Keynsham. Once the Club's main water, this colourful stretch of river is home to some wily Chub and Perch, plus a host of good Roach, Grayling, Gudgeon, Dace and Trout. Expect the odd Bream, Carp and Tench too. A challenging yet rewarding fishing venue set in the tranquility of the Chew Valley. Parking is available at the Albert Mill end. Field 19 contains overhead power lines in the region of 'old' permanent peg 18. Please exercise extreme caution when fishing here. "BROOKMEAD" (Field 7) is the left bank field below the road bridge at Compton Dando (the field with the flow-measuring flume). Further downstream on the same bank is "LYNEHAM ORCHARD", Field 10, which can be accessed via Field 7. This is a wilder stretch of the River Chew and is home to good numbers of fish including Chub, Roach, Dace, Perch, Gudgeon, Trout and Grayling. A peaceful roving water with good rewards on offer for determined anglers. Limited parking and main access is available near Compton Dando bridge. The Two Rivers footpath follows the River Chew all the way to Keynsham. Field 7 contains several overhead power lines. Please exercise extreme caution when fishing here. The banks in these two fields are very steep in places - it is advised that junior members fishing these waters are accompanied by an adult. Right Bank (Looking Downstream): Field No. 75."CHEWTON MEADOW" is three-quarter mile right-bank stretch of the River Chew from Uplands Bridge to Chewton Place. The Association re-acquired this field in 2005 and much work has been carried out by Club President Richard Denning and Dave Cook in order to open up the 20-plus swims. Another classic roving water with good numbers of fish including Chub, Roach, Dace, Perch, Gudgeon, Trout and Grayling. Slightly deeper on average compared to the Compton Dando fields, especially towards Chewton Place, with depths to 14ft in places. Access is via the byway leading from Chewton Keynsham to Uplands Bridge. The track is VERY pot-holed and often flooded. If in doubt, park safely on the main road and walk. Space is available for a maximum of 3 cars near the gate on the left past Uplands Bridge or at the fork in the track a little further on. Park very close to the hedge to avoid the off-roaders! Field 75 contains overhead power lines. Please exercise extreme caution when fishing here.
